Shorty Fest Presented by Acura will take place at Tipitina’s on Monday, April 27! Brought to you by the Trombone Shorty Foundation with support from Gia Maione Prima Foundation and Tip-It Foundation, the 13th Annual Shorty Fest Presented by Acura is our way of bringing the community together to preserve the future of our music culture. This year’s musical lineup features performances by Performances by Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Cimafunk & La Tribu, and special guests Tarriona “Tank” Ball (of Tank & The Bangas), Big Freedia, Jelly Joseph and JoJo Hermann (of Widespread Panic), plus students from the Trombone Shorty Foundation and Primera Linea.
Our FREE outdoor “Cultural Block Party” starts at 5pm. The Block Party celebrates the city’s rich cultural heritage in a uniquely New Orleans way—joyfully out in the street! Tipitina’s will block off Napoleon Avenue in front of the venue and welcome music fans of all ages to join in. We’ll have food trucks from Tanjarine (Vegan/Vegetarian Friendly) as well as La Cocinata, a family friendly kids’ area, Silent Auction and VIP access tent on the neutral ground, and a special induction into the Tipitina’s “Walk of Fame” for this year’s recipient, Roger Lewis.
Since 2012, the Trombone Shorty Foundation has inspired and supported the next generation of musicians, bringing together not just students and mentors but also a host of world-class performers and artists. “Before I became a part of Trombone Shorty Foundation, my career only had a regional reach,” says Shorty Foundation alumni and current Shorty Foundation Program Administrator, Santrell “Jade” Perdue. “Now as an active member of Shorty Foundation’s alumni program, I travel nationally and internationally performing in world-class venues with world-class talents, including at Shorty Fest.”
