Shorty Fest 2022 Presented by Acura is right around the corner! We’re counting down the days til “Jazz Fest Monday,” May 2 at Tipitina’s, which feels even more special this year. We’re expanding the festivities to the outdoors and neutral ground…Read on below for all the details!

This year’s indoor music lineup features performances by Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Galactic with Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph, Dumpstaphunk, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and our Foundation Academy students. We want to thank Acura, our Presenting Sponsor, for their generous continued support. Help keep music education alive in New Orleans! Donate or get tickets today.

Brought to you by the Trombone Shorty Foundation with support from Gia Maione Prima Foundation and Tip-It Foundation, this year’s event will also feature a FREE outdoor block party with performances by the New Orleans Nightcrawlers, Big Chief Juan Pardo and the Golden Comanches, Academy students, and a Battle of the Bands featuring Warren Easton and Edna Karr High School Marching Bands. We’ll also have a tent on the neutral ground to house our silent auction and outdoor VIP area, and food trucks will be onsite. Cyril Neville will get his well-deserved spot on Tipitina’s “Walk of Fame,” and the Induction Ceremony to honor him will take place right outside the venue. Everything gets started outside at 5pm, stay tuned for the full schedule of events coming soon. It will truly be a wonderful night!

The winners for the 2022 Songwriting Contest in partnership with the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts have been announced! The theme this year was “Louisiana’s Culinary Heritage.” Congrats to Kaleb Summers from NOCCA in 1st place, Jayda Martin at Edna Karr in 2nd, and Emma Navarro at NOCCA in 3rd. These high school students plus the winners of the Art Contest will share $25,000 in college scholarships. You can hear their songs and view the winning art submissions HERE.

This past March, our Foundation Academy students performed in person at NOLA Brass Fest and New Orleans Book Fest. They were incredible as always and we’re so proud of their hard work! Don’t miss your chance to see them at French Quarter Festival on April — (need pic or pics from Ashley), and of course at this year’s Shorty Fest Presented by Acura! They’ll perform during the outdoor block party and also appear as special guests inside later in the night.
