The Trombone Shorty Foundation and the Gia Maione Prima Foundation presented the 6th Annual TUNES FOR TOYS on Thursday, December 19 at Tipitina’s! Our annual toy drive and music concert featured performances by students from the Trombone Shorty Academy plus special guest Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, plus Hot 8 Brass Band and New Breed Brass Band. The toys were collected and distributed as holiday gifts to children in need at an event the following day called “Toys from Troy,” taking place at Warren Easton High School. The evening was made possible by the generous sponsorship of the Gia Maione Prima Foundation and JP Morgan Chase. Thanks also to OffBeat Magazine and WWOZ 90.7 fm.
