Shorty Fest Presented by Acura will take place at Tipitina’s on Monday, May 1! Brought to you by the Trombone Shorty Foundation with support from Gia Maione Prima Foundation and Tip-It Foundation, the 10th Annual Shorty Fest Presented by Acura is our way of bringing the community together to preserve the future of our music culture. This year’s musical lineup features performances by Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Galactic feat. Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph, Tank and the Bangas, “The Havana Funk Experience” with Cimafunk and special guests, and students from the Trombone Shorty Academy.
Our FREE outdoor “Cultural Block Party” starts at 5pm. We’ll also have a tent on the neutral ground to house our silent auction and outdoor VIP area. The Cultural Block Party celebrates the city’s rich cultural heritage in a uniquely New Orleans way—joyfully out in the street! Tipitina’s will block off Napoleon Avenue in front of the venue and welcome music fans of all ages to join in. “10 years ago we created the foundation to give back to our city’s young musicians,” says Bill Taylor, Founding Executive Director. “As we commemorate a decade of Shorty Fests, we wanted to present our community with a truly special experience that is uniquely New Orleans. So let’s take it to the street!” Thank you also to support from sponsors Wheatley Vodka and Southern Comfort.

Tipitina’s Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony this year will honor Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews! The honor is given to musicians who have earned their place in New Orleans’ revered music history. Recipients are recognized as cultural icons in our community and have provided countless inspiration to rising young musicians and performers. Past Walk of Fame awardees have included Fats Domino, Dr. John, The Neville Brothers and Galactic.

“I am so proud to see how far we’ve come, and how many students’ lives we’ve impacted. As for getting a spot on Tipitina’s Walk of Fame… I am extremely honored to have a place among so many music legends who came before me. I hope to continue to play it forward, so I can watch the next generation of New Orleans musicians showcase their talent to the world!” — Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews

Wheatley craft vodka comes from the world’s most award-winning distillery, backed by 200 years of distilling experience. Buffalo Trace Distillery is known for its legendary bourbons like Pappy Van Winkle, Weller, E.H. Taylor, and Blanton’s, but the Distillery has a long history of crafting other spirits, including vodka.

Southern Comfort was created in 1874, by a man born to do things his own way. M.W. Heron wondered, why does whiskey have to be so harsh and overpowering? Why can’t it be smooth, easygoing, downright delicious? His recipe, blending stone fruits and spices, created an iconic American taste. Nearly 150 years later, Southern Comfort is as one-of-a-kind as ever. Satisfying on its own. Delicious in any mixed drink. No other spirit is so comfortable however you drink it. Or whoever you drink it with.
