The Trombone Shorty Foundation recently offered a free Masterclass for youth ages 14-24. “Live Beatmaking in the 21st Century: A Look into Looping and Integration of Live Instruments” was held Monday, March 26 at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz and Heritage Center. In this workshop for youth ages 14 – 24, participants learned how to expand their beatmaking skills, learning how to loop and integrate live instruments into beats. Led by Charles Corpening pka Wino Willy, Masterclass attendees explored creative techniques using industry-standard tools like Ableton Live, FL Studio, BandLab, and more, and inspired students to bring their musical ideas to life! The Trombone Shorty Foundation focuses on providing young musicians with the skills and experiences to become professionals in a supportive and interactive setting, with a full schedule of Fall and Spring Masterclasses open to all (ages 14-24 only).
