In this introductory 3-day course, individuals will get an overview into the basics of music production and audio engineering. Individuals will understand signal flow, microphones and home studio setups, DAWs, as well as a hands-on intro to audio and MIDI editing, and the basics of mixing. No prior experience is needed – this class is open to all levels. Students are encouraged to bring their own laptops and headphones, although some will be available for use.
Each session will begin with the introduction of a topic, followed up with a more in-depth explanation, and we will finish with a discussion and Q&A.
- Class 1 – Overview of the Recording/Production process. Introduction to terminology.
- Class 2 – The basics of Digital Audio, Signal Flow, and File Management. How to ensure transportability in your work.
- Class 3 – Further exploration into Digital Audio and the Recording Process. Overview of Digital Audio Workstations.
The event is a program of the Trombone Shorty Foundation.
