During the first week of Jazz Fest, a group of the amazingly talented Havana students from the Guillermo Tomas Conservatory we visited in Havana will be coming here to New Orleans for a dynamic cultural exchange. Our friends at Cuba Educational Travel will be curating the trip, and their time here will culminate with a performance at our annual fundraiser, Shorty Fest, on May 1 st at Tipitina’s. They will also perform with our Shorty Academy students at our first-ever Jazz Fest performance on Sunday, April 30th.
To support this and future cultural exchanges, the Trombone Shorty Foundation is establishing a Cultural Experience Program, so that we can continue developing these important connections.
We are grateful to announce that the Gia Maione Prima Foundation and Horns to Havana together have offered a $15,000 “matching donation” to kick off this fund. It is our hope that you can join in and collectively help us meet that match. Click the “Donate” button in the menu at the top of this page (top right) to contribute!
