Shorty Fest 2016

STAY TUNED FOR AN ANNOUNCEMENT COMING SOON ON SHORTY FEST 2016!

—————————————————————————————

Since its inception, Shorty Fest has blended young, emerging local talent with the city’s musical icons to create a unique, homegrown experience that can only be found in New Orleans. “It’s all about keeping our music strong in the future,” says Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, the foundation’s figurehead and founder, who serves as a mentor to the city’s young musicians and whose own musical journey offers a successful road map to these artists following in his footsteps. “When I was young, the older cats did it for me, and now it’s my responsibility and privilege to do the same. That’s what makes our city so special, we pass it on.”

The vision of Shorty Fest focuses on the “future” of the city’s musical heritage, and the lineup paints a musical portrait of what’s coming next. “It’s a very bright future,” says Bill Taylor, the foundation’s Founding Executive Director and Shorty Fest producer. “If you are looking for a glimpse at the city’s musical horizon, you’ll see it clearly at Shorty Fest.”
